Personal finance is the loudest category in software. We made the calm one.
We built Plumb because the apps that exist today made our money feel worse.
Open most personal finance apps and you’ll see gradients of blue, neon green, candlestick charts, hustle copy, and a low hum of “you’re falling behind.” Even the best of them treat money as a thing to be optimised, conquered, won. They are loud, they are anxious, and they are designed to keep you forever.
Plumb is the opposite. We treat money as a wellbeing category — closer to Headspace or Noom than to Robinhood or Cash App. We think the right job is to lower your heart rate, not raise it. To explain, not to alert. To leave your year better than we found it, and to be honest when you’re done.
That posture shapes everything. The serif typography. The bone palette. The plain English. The 12-month arc as the product shape. The 1-click cancel. The graduation. We made a financial brand that has nothing to prove — because the only thing that needs to prove anything is the year ahead of you.
Five posture choices that make the brand.
Plain language, always.
If a 30-year-old can’t read it without re-reading, we’ve failed. No leveraging, no optimising, no “your financial wellness.” Specific moves. Real dollar amounts. Real deadlines.
Calm by default.
Score-drop alerts are off by default. The home screen has no urgency cues. Notifications are minimal. We chose calm even at the cost of engagement metrics — because engagement that drives anxiety is not a metric we want to win.
Honest defaults.
Cancel is easy to find. The trial-end is announced three days early. The data is yours, exportable any time. Privacy is plain English. We never sell your data — not to anyone, not for anything.
Finite over forever.
Twelve months. A start, a middle, a graduation. We’re not trying to keep you here. Year Two is your choice — a calmer maintenance plan, or thank you and goodbye, with your printed Year-End Report and your data.
The work is legible.
Every move you’re asked to make is paired with a one-sentence explanation of why it matters and what it will move. No black box. No magic. Just a coach that shows its work.
Remote. US-only. Privacy-respecting.
Plumb was founded in 2026 by a small team that has built consumer products at companies you’ve heard of. We won’t list them — what we made before isn’t what makes Plumb. What makes Plumb is the posture above, applied relentlessly.
We are a US corporation, formed in Wyoming, and fully remote — no office, by design. We are bootstrapped and intend to stay independent. We agreed, before a single line of product shipped, that we would not optimise for engagement at the cost of user wellbeing — because we believe the two are the same thing in a long enough time horizon.
